Hellooo! When I saw this amazingly bright bouquet of flowers photo by April O’Hare Photography, I dropped everything and painted what I saw. What a gorgeous combination of bright colors. I thought, they are just perfect for a summer wedding.

Bundled in a vintage silver tin can wrapped with burlap and lace, I fell in love. The splash of plum and sunflowers make this wedding bouquet pop.

I think I need to create three of these as centerpieces and add them to my kitchen! So beautiful and super sweet.

How do you write place cards? This is a FAQ here at Mospens Studio. After loads of research, I found many ideas and ways to write place cards. Surprisingly there are many options.

The idea of a place card is to help your guests find their seat. Otherwise they will look all around and be lost not knowing where to sit.

Your guests will either pick up their place card when they enter your reception or a table seating sign will be at the entrance showing your guests what table they are sitting at, then a place card is already placed on each setting at each table showing your guests where to sit.

FORMAL WEDDING

This is used if Nick is the only “Mr. Gatsios” in attendance. If there are more than one guests named “Mr. Gatsios” then you would want to have his name read “Mr. Nick Gatsios” to avoid confusion.

Many times however at Mospens Studio we do print 2 names on each place card at the request of our client. Two names would look like this on one card:
Mr. and Mrs. Nick Gatsios

YOUR GUESTS’ GUEST
You want to find out your guests’ guest names and have a place card for each guest.

TITLE
“Mr.” is used for a man 18 years or older. An unmarried lady 18 and older is “Ms.” You will use “Miss” for unmarried girls under the age 18. Master is used for a boy until they are age 7. Mister is used when they turn 18. In between 7 and 18 there is no title used.

TABLE NUMBER ON PLACE CARD
The Table number can be printed below the name. Example:
Mr. and Mrs. Nick Gatsios
Table 7
Most times the table number is smaller and centered on the card. Another option is to print it on the right bottom corner.

IDENTIFY YOUR TABLE
Many times our clients do not use table numbers but use different artworks to identify each table. Then on the place card (see the beach wedding place cards photo above) they use the art to show the guest what table they are seated at. Also, it is popular to use different beach names, city names, or other themed table names instead of table numbers. This is a way to make your reception creative and fun!

SEATING CHARTS
Seating charts are very popular for weddings today. Each guest name is listed along with the assigned table number where they are to be seated. The size of the seating charts can range from 8″ x 10″ to large seating signs framed in 16″ x 24″ frames. After the guest finds their name and table number they go to their table to find their place card. The place cards are placed at the guests assigned seat. See example:

Mrs. Nick Gatsios
Miss Amy Nickels
and so on. You would list all guests seated at that table.

ENTREE CHOICES
If you caterer requires you to signify the food choice of each guest on the place card, you can do this by using different colors of ink, different motifs, or the cow, carrot, fish, … motifs. This will let the server see what entrée your guest chose and allow them to serve your guest in a professional manner.

MENUS
Often times you can print your guests names on the menus at the top. This will show your guests where to be seated and list the menu items that will be served. This way you do not need separate place cards if you are using menus. Saving you money.

When your guests arrive to your reception, they want to be guided to their seat. You won’t be there to do so, but your place card will. You don’t want them guessing… where on earth am I suppose to sit? Having place cards ready at the door or a seating sign is a great way to show your guests you are thinking of them.

Nautical themed weddings are super hot this year! Perfect for a nautical wedding in the spring, summer, or fall. The obvious color choice that goes perfectly with a nautical theme is navy blue, of course. To add a splash of modern fun I LOVE coral pink, lightest khaki brown, and metallic silver as the accent colors. Navy blue stripes on the cake and tables are a MUST!

Tip! When working with stripes for your nautical event, use them sparingly. Remember less is more. Think cake, and table runner. Now that is nautical perfection!

I have to admit, I am head over heels in love with Kelley and Anthony’s custom wedding invitation.

Less TRULY is More.

Hand-painted sweet and simple hearts in the lightest pink watercolor paint. EACH 100% cotton card was hand-painted by hand.

Letterpress just makes me happy. The printing technique is impressed (called a kisss) into soft cotton invitations. Beautiful and instantly adds luxury to all invitation designs. At Mospens Studio, James and I do prefer a deep kiss … for our letterpress printing.

The texture of cotton is gorgeous.

Kelley hand-tied each rustic wedding invitation with twine. This design is truly romantic with a rustic twist.

Soft pink and gray wedding colors were carried through perfectly with their wedding invitations. The pearl white tree free cardstock is luxurious and soft to the touch.

 Hundreds of painted watercolor hearts drying. Next they were assembled by hand and attached to beautiful tan rustic metallic cardstock. Perfect for a vintage wedding with a modern country-chic twist!

Our love affair with NAUTICAL WEDDING INVITATIONS continues!

Meet BESPOKE SAILBOAT.

What a GREAT way to celebrate a NAUTICAL WEDDING! Recently custom designed for Blair-Ashley and Andrew’s nautical wedding. (details in photos changed to protect their privacy)

The handmade wedding invitation is made up of 2 layers of thick white and navy cardstock. Each invite is wrapped with fine pink ribbon hand-tied into a bow. Navy text in terrific nautical type gives the BESPOKE SAILBOAT design preppy personality.

Watercolor hand-painted artwork was custom created for this COASTAL CHIC suite. Blair-Ashley’s parents sailboat was hand-illustrated with her favorite preppy pink and light green colors. A small painted anchor adds sea-loving flavor to the envelope flap.

Hand-painted custom wedding maps were illustrated to navigate the guests to the nautical themed venue and more!
